Franklin Ball Pilates Exercises

In this Pilates Can shoulder workshop video, Claire explains to how to do “Feet Pilates” to assist with shoulder mobility.

Why, you may ask, are we doing feet Pilates during a shoulder workshop? The answer is because the feet are connected by fascia throughout the rest of the body. So, plantar fascia exercises = feet Pilates will often positively affect other parts of the body, in this case the shoulders.

Fascia exercises aimed at releasing the fascia in the feet and maintaining strength in the feet are not only relevant but, in many cases, essential to mobility and strength throughout the body.

This is also the reason why both semi-private and mat Pilates sessions are designed to deliver an entire body workout. In the case of private and semi-private equipment sessions, Pilates Can also focuses on assisting the individual client situation.

But getting back to “Feet Pilates”, this video shows Claire demonstrating how to use Pilates balls for the feet. These are more accurately called Franklin Balls, as they were designed by Eric Franklin, a Swiss dancer and founder of the Franklin method.

No matter what they are called, Claire demonstrates that these Franklin balls for feet and feet Pilates exercises generally are wonderful fascia Pilates options for helping to relieve tightness and pain from other parts of the body including the shoulders.
