I attend weekly group mat classes, but the groups are small and every week are designed for personal needs. This also brings great variety to the exercises, every class is different and fun. Throughout the week there are classes at different levels and with different instructors, so classes to suit everyone and all abilities. All the instructors are wonderful and bring variety in their approaches to the classes. My classes are usually with Claire who is so experienced and understands so much about every individual's body and needs, always providing alternatives and special treatment for each person. Her enthusiasm and cheerfulness is a great way to start Saturday mornings, as well as feeling good after a pilates session. The team have done a fantastic job in providing hybrid sessions with in-person and on-line options, and even adapting exercises to suit equipment at home. This was one of the most innovative and successful solutions to covid lockdowns that I encountered, so successful that it is continuing and people can join on-line from anywhere. I have definitely improved my posture and core fitness and strengthened areas of weakness, including improving my walking style, balance, and flexibility. All very important at my age. The sessions have small group numbers so each participant is monitored whether attending in-person or remotely. At the start of each session attendees are invited to raise any issues they have. The focus of the session is then adapted, if necessary, to address issues identified by participants. It is an understatement to say I am a fan. My ongoing mobility, flexibility and core strength are a testament to Pilates Can and Claire in particular - although all instructors who have substituted for Claire when she is on leave etc have been terrific. If you have tried Pilates elsewhere but it didn’t ‘do it’ for you, I urge you to give Pilates Can a trial run. In my experience, when taught well pilates is a fantastic adjunct to any fitness program or a stand-alone effective form of exercise. I love the way Pilates focuses on every muscle and forces me to slow down and pay attention to every exercise. It has built my body awareness and core strength and has assisted me to become much better at all other forms of exercise such as running.  The teachers are relaxed and enthusiastic and I always feel as though they are focusing on my individual needs and pushing me to achieve a little bit more at each session.
